Arles

Arles lies on the River Rhone, a location that proved extemely important for this city throughout history

Entering the imposing gate of ancient Arles
Here one finds history piled upon history creating a uniquely interesting city to explore

In the Place de Republique, in front of the Town Hall, there is an Egyptian obelisk that was found in the Roman arena
Famous for its impressive entrance, St Trophime church, dedicated to St. Stephen, once a cathedral, was built in the 11th and 12th Century, but is believed to have been founded in 606 AD by a Christian missionary from Greece who brought Christianity to Gaul.

Since I was following mainly the Roman markers on the streets,
I ended up at the Emperor Constantine's bath complex, but I continued on

My destination was the new and modern Museum of Pagan Art
