York

From where I stayed, at a B&B, not far from here, I would enter through Michel's Gate |

A lovely and caring young family ran this B&B, he, btw, was a chef |

Regardless of plans, before long, feet and mind invariably steer you toward the dominant feature of York |

In good Christian tradition there are the sinners' tortured faces decorating the great edifice |

This is as far as I went, because to go beyond this point is not free and I really did not want to spend the time, and left something for my next visit |
![]() |
This is one of the reasons for my next visit, there are Roman ruins being excavated beneath the Minster - Emperor Constantine |

Peter's Gate is the closest to the Minster and there is a Museum across from this plaza. |
![]() |
The clean Museum toilet did not run out of paper, btw, the word that I artfully covered up with paper, to take a snapshot of their sign of preemptive apologies. |

But wait! There is still another story here in York, just ask these kids who are on a school trip |

Next to the old chapel and beneath this building are the remnants of an old Viking settlement |

You probablyknow that York was once the capital of a Viking kingdom that the Norsemen had carved out of the East Coast |
