England 2005/6
British Museum, London
Evidently, I have a problem. I went to the newly renovated British Museum twice, once in 2005 and again in 2006, yet for some reson can't find a lot of the pictures that show the new museum layout. Still searching, and surely I will find them and then can throw this note out. Meanwhile, here is what I do have. |

The museum has been completely redone, within the old structure, from the roof to the basement |

Helmet and face protection, the iron parts are nearly gone, but the precious metals decorations remain |

Another one of the many beautifully styled items found at Sutton Hoo |

The blade is a recreation of the swords that were found at Sutton Hoo. The items that were found still intact were belt and scabbard decorations |

Swords fit for kings. Beautiful gold work and inlays, however, you can see from the tang that the steel did not survive in the ground very well |

Another priceless buckle that shows the superb craftsmanship that existed around 600 AD |

Someone will know what this is. Clearly a lot of work and runic inscriptions went into this piece |

I just had to reshoot this amazingly carved string instrument |

And get a better picture of the intricately carved surface details |
So, I will leave you with these pictures and the hope that the rest will show up in the near future. |
