British Museum

The always fascinating British Museum. This was before the great renovation. I love this place and go there every time I am in London..

A ship's bow decoration - Sutton Hoo collection

To me one of the most captivating exhibits was the Sutton Hoo collection. In a lady's estate gardens an Anglican ship had been discovered and excavated, loaded with treasure, and probably used, as was the tradition, to bury a king. The link to the British Museum for the rest of the story.

A beautifully patterned sword blade. A recreation modeled on what was found at the site

Bronze age weapons and decorative bands
The ancients certainly did not lack metal working skill or sense of artistry

The Roman occupiers definitely brought their own style of weapons and cultural influence to Britain

A musical instrument one might be afraid to use, for fear of damaging it
