Nevada Fall

I have to admit, this is not the way I usually take pictures. I am rarely afraid of adding the human element, but I was, especially on the way down, preoccupied with getting back to the valley to eat a salad and start on my drive home (hoping fervently that I would stay awake). Additionally, there were several couples who occupied my time and distracted me from my usual behavior. The women were pretty and educated and kept me entertained. No complains, that's for sure. But, they were also married. So it goes. I'm going to die a bachelor. I'm certain of it. :-(

Maybe not the prettiest of shots, but let me tell you, I have never seen water move at such velocities, short of coming out of a water cannon.

After a short while of hiking, there was the next goal, Nevada Fall.

Getting closer I saw people changing into their rain gear. I thought, oh no, not again. But when compared with Vernal Fall, this was nothing. A sprinkle. When it did get wet, at least for a short time, it came as a surprise, but I'm a long way from there.

Looks bad, but it wasn't. The wind was in my favor and blew the spray past. Just a fine mist was all that I felt.

As I was saying in my emails, very few people would be where the railing was overlooking the fall. It was not the easiest ledge to get to and not all of it had the railing.

However, it's an amazing sensation to be up there for those who braved it. This was about the largest number I've seen. Once I got there, for a while I was alone, then a few people came down. The ferociousness of the water is beyond description..

It's all steeply uphill, but at least dry. Finally, there's the top, the plateau where the river is running level..The little bridge needs to be crossed to get to the long passage down.
