Tokyo Motor Show 2019
Motorcycles
All about bikes, all sorts, and a few other things sprinkled in. With neither Harely Davidson, nor the European motorcycle manufacturers present, one had to make do with the, not insignificant Japanese brands, e.g. Honda, Kawasaki, and Yamaha. Not that there's anything wrong with that, as you can readily tell from the expression of this future Honda bike rider, who, no doubt, will someday experience the thrill of sitting on a roaring engine (one hopes - electrical motorcycles are boringly silent, as Harley Davidson discovered) and negotiating Tokyo traffic |
A step back into history and to one of Honda's great successes (and I'm not talking about the Honda FIT, in the background) |
I think that much of Tokyo business would come to a standstill without these ever-present riders and their cargo |
Everything that counts, in elegant simplicity. Probably their budget oriented motorcycle.. |
You know, she'll get this, once it hits the showrooms, small, thrifty, and easy to handle |
A little more powerful and upscale, for dad's pleasure. |
And ever so delightful, and the perfect vehicle with which to go to school or shopping, a Honda scooter |
Not to forget about the big boys - Honda's former powerhouse on two wheels |
Since I was in the Honda display area, I could not overlook the their excellent and successful race cars and racing bikes |
Next, the awe-inspiring, race-bred Kawasaki Ninja series. Amazing machines of concentrated speed and power |
The Kawasaki Ninja ridden, and the suit worn, by Johnathan Rea, an international champion of the Kawasaki Racing Team |
Also a Kawasaki, but a little slower, and seating as many as four, ATV. |
Yamaha arrived with a delightfully different agenda. Sure, here's their 'fast-burner' bike, the vaunted R1, but there is more, much more from that company |
There is this trike. And the front wheels lean in turns. Very cool - definitely want one - but wait! |
Both Kawasaki electric vehicles |
The very cool Kawasaki EV 3-wheeler, and the awesome leaning technology is there |
To just putter around town, just for the fun of it, no roaring engine is needed. The E-scooter is perfect. Two variants here, and I suspect that the one at the top is the more potent (and expensive) one. |
Three wheels. Balancing is not required. |
And please, please, I want one of these even more than the first one, at the top - how totally cool is this? |
