Yokota Air Base, Japan

Fussa

Yokota AB, almost a home away from home, although, sometimes you want to leave home, but aircraft problems hold you back.

Went into town briefly, once. Not a good situation. Senjo-si Shrine in Asakusa. At least I love the place, crowded as it usually is. There is always something worth seeing.

Remembered that I wanted to get something for a friend at the shrine

Then RTB. Flipped through TV channels and now know why I will never see a Noh Play. Ancient, definitely. Interesting, for foreigners, absolitely not. The way it went, the guy in white walked slowly back and forth across the stage, to the sound of the little drum, while the rest sat there, stonefaced. It was a challenge to watch.

I found watching a tray of sushi slowly disappear from before my eyes, way more appealing.

This, on the other hand, was very interesting. I do enjoy good craftsmanship

He carves out each segment, then inserts a different color wood..

This one ($600), I thought, was masterful, although it cost less than the roses, which was $800

That weekend they had merchants in with goods from Thailand, all hand-carved, naturally
