The USAF lodge being full, some of us headed to the Navy Lodge. Here the view of Agana from the lodge

Since we had but a short night and early flight, but did have a rental car, I could only recommend one place to visit, a place I fondly remembered from the late 1960s, Taragi Beach.

Matt, USAF Ret, long distance hiker (e.g. Pacific Trail Crest), living in Fussa, Jap, our willing chauffeur

It's Andersen AFB property and thus remained protected and pristine without the destructive influence of decades of heavy tourism.

Having about an hour to spend there, we didn't have time to walk around that corner and see miles of unpopulated beach, untouched by civilization. When stationed there, I used to wander off in that direction.

Bamboo Willie's, a place to change and also shower after a swim

Finally, when we were leaving, the sun rose and I had to stop for a last look in both directions

Looking toward Pati's Point, where in 1968 one could see the bomb laden B-52s lauch (in cells of three) day and night, during Arc Light operations, at that time, breaking the Vietnam Army's stranglehold on Keh Sanh.

The so-called Grey Ghost and the story. When I was there it was a different Grey Ghost
