Siggraph 2004 Somewhere along the way my compact flash card in my Nikon Coolpix 990 went bad. System Error was all I could see, and then nothing. Initially I thought that my camera had died. Upon my return I bought a 6-in-1 card reader at Fry's ($5 after mail-in rebate), and then rushed home to see what I had. - Zip, Nada: the only thing the card reader SW asked for was for me to please put a disk into the "drive" (card slot). Disappointed I went on the Web and checked for image recovery, and discovered that cost a minimum of $80 across the board. Searching around more I ran across this Lexar Image Recovery program here: This is one of the moments when you think all is lost, but manage to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. The SW was $30, shipping just $3.95, and I got the SW inside of two days. Next, I did card tests and then a flawless image recovery. Sigh! The upshot of all this is that I can now share the few images that I did take. Enjoy! |
