Belgrade, Serbia
From my initial experience, getting into town very late, around midnight, and from what I saw around the station, my expectations were low, but by the next morning things had brightened considerably and traveling around this dynamic and energetic city was fun and easy. The city could benefit from a few million gallons of exterior paint, but that, too, is happening a little bit at a time. I was telling them what nearby Zagreb was doing in their main station area, such as the flower sales etc, and that they should attempt something similar to improve the image and arrival experience. Be that as it may, the city grows on you and especially in the old part, where shops and restaurants abound and the beauty of the turn-of-the-century buildings adds greatly to the visual beauty of the cityscape. |

A Beograd Babe by the name of Dragana (love that name) who really knew all about the city. A truly fit chick. We talked lengthily, and what a treasure she was. A physical fitness trainer and for kids, a martial arts instructor. She spends hours with her family wandering about and enjoys what the city has to offer. What blew her away was when she saw the picture I had taken of the lion sculpture. She was shocked, she had never seen it and said something like: I've walked this city for years, and you come here for two days and find this lion sculpture that I have never seen before. :D |
