Around Ulaanbataar | The Main Buddhist Temple |
Ulaanbataar represents a culture and country changing at a tremendous pace, supported by a number of friendly nations, including the USA. While the young people are thriving and adjusting seeimingly very well, especially as city dwellers, the country folk and the older generation is often overwhelmed by these changes and tries vainly to cling to their old traditions. Mongolia, and especially Ulaanbator is a work in progress and is a very interesting and easy to travel-in country. Many travelers I met arrived on the Trans Siberian Express from Moscow, and after getting off here in Ulaanbator and taking some time to see Mongolia, would continue on to Beijing, others would depart directly from the new international airport to their home countries. |
