Maska Lake
After seeing some pictures of this lake, I just had to go there and spend a few hours. Little did I know how amazing it would be. I actually should have spent a whole day there, hiking all around the lake and also tried to make it up to one of the monasteries that are hidden way up on the ridges and require notification of the mountain rescue people before climbing up there. Once again, I did the best I could with the time I gave myself and struck out in the early morning hours when anyone else was not ready or willing to go. Most people who do go there only use the boats, or make it as far as the restaurant, eat, sit and watch the scenery, smoke, to not be overcome by all of that clean mountain air, and then head back. Others, the younger ones, venture a litte way out, then notice that their shoes are getting dirty and that's that. Most likely, they find themselves a little short of breath and in need for another cigarette. |

This is also a well known alpinist area, and two of them were preparing an ascent here |
