Mount Pilatus 2001

There even was a small ice field to cross. Nearly lost it there and now remember some people coming down. Actually, there was yet another way to get to the top of this mountain, other than cable car, train, or on foot. There was a way to drive up most of the mountain and there was a parking place somewhere beyong that little chapel you can see in the distance.

I had totally forgotten that I saw this, and even then, I saw it briefly, during a clearing of the trees, wondered what it was, and then forgot over the ascent. This is a high-speed thrill ride down part of the mountain!

Finally, after passing through a long tunnel, changing clothes in there, then appearing on the civilized side of the peak

Had a nice meal there - I was hungry, then took the train back. As you can see, people also arrive by cable car.

I aways wanted to ride one of these things, called a funicular, and did it years later again in Hong Kong, and then again in 2015 in Bogota. This was my trip back down, off Mt Pilatus, back to the train station to Luzern.
