A unique building and interesting place is the great central market in Phnom Penh. Excellent prices for souveniers (the competition is fierce) and just a fantastic array of goods of any kind. Bargain hardy, but kindly, and have a few dollars worth of 200 (about 6 cents US) and 500 (about 14 cents US) Riel bills handy which makes the beggars leave you in peace. To me, mothers with children and people missing limbs, rated 500, pushy beggars, with their bodies intact, at best 200, if anything at all. It's an act of kindness that won't break you, and you'll enjoy your bargain shopping and exploring that much more.
