Samarqand

The Registan
Part of the fabulous Registan of Samarqand. Often two major pieces of architecture face each other, nearly identical, yet artistically diverse in their details. To judge from the rows of modern seats and a raised wooden stage, this grand plaza is often used as a backdrop for open-air plays, theatre, or dances.

Yes, and the building is nice to look at too. Lovely Tracy. Also, the beginning of general discontent. A few of our group managed to get inside, while the rest were kept from watching the dancers by an armed Uzbek guard. Note, the heavy fading of the colored artwork around the alcove.
